Esports has been rising in India at a very fast pace. The growth can be significantly seen in the mobile esports genre. To get more insights about the same, we sat down with Abhishek Aggarwal, Co-Founder and CEO, Trinity Gaming. Trinity Gaming is the country's top gaming talent management company that works with players like Jonathan, Dynamo and Kronten, who have made their name in PUBG Mobile and also represented the country in multiple tournaments.
Where do you see Indian esports in the next 5 years?
Esports will be a big industry in the upcoming time because the new generation is taking an interest in gaming, and it will give this industry a big boom. It’s encouraging to see that even the mindset of Indian parents has started to change positively towards gaming. We are waiting for the day when esports matches will be telecasted on television channels, and people will eagerly wait as they do for physical games.
What according to you is the biggest challenge for esports in this country?
The challenge is that Indian parents are taking the time to understand the value of esports. They should realize that esports can also be seen as a viable career option and an excellent source to generate money if taken seriously and showed full support. Other things can be, as esports is mostly a teenage centric industry, they should understand the value of studies and play games to satisfy their career needs but not as an addiction. It can be a downfall to the child, his studies, and indirectly to the gaming industry as well.
Esports in India is usually associated with PUBG, what are the other titles that have scope in esports?
As PUBG is a mobile game, many games also get a tremendous amount of recognition like Free fire, Call of duty Mobile etc. Not forgetting about the PC games like Valorant and CS-GO, this will be taking over the gaming market very soon.
What is your responsibility as a talent management company?
As a talent management agency, we aim to connect potential gamers and brands so that both can be benefited — our aim to boom the future of gaming and esports in India. We pick potential creators and help them in their grooming process to become successful content creators.
What do you look for in an upcoming content creator before including him/her in your roster?
We at trinity look for the passion and zeal in the child who wants to become a gaming content creator. The creator should have fire to be a successful creator. Anyone who is serious and wants to shine in the industry is welcomed at Trinity gaming.
What is the ratio of female representation in esports in India?
As Trinity is a gaming content-centric company, we cannot specifically say the percentage of females in esports. However, if we talk about the percentage of females as gaming content creators, we can say it’s almost 40%-45%.
