Indian organizations don't shy away from using cutting edge technology if it helps bring business agility. Here are a few who despite already having a full-fledged IT infrastructure still did that extra something to support business growth.
HDFC Standard Life Insurance for instance, was already using IT extensively for most of their business processes, and yet felt the need for an analytics solution to analyze declining customer satisfaction scores and get more insights than what the management already knew. The result--repeat purchase by customers went up by 27% and savings to the tune of USD 200,000.
Uninor, the telecom giant, felt dissatisfied with their existing commercial CRM implementation, as their agents had to juggle multiple screens while responding to customers, thereby increasing average handling time. They dumped it and built their own, which provided a 360 deg view of customers on a single screen, resulting in 5% reduction in AHT and 3% reduction in repeat calls.
Myntra.com, the e-commerce retailer felt their existing IT infrastructure wasn’t able to cater to the ever-growing scale of business, particularly during seasonal surges. They implemented a hybrid cloud that created a seamless tunnel between their physical infrastructure and a cloud based one. As a result, they could handle 20x growth in business at 1.5 times the cost, in less than two months!
IndiaFirst Life Insurance also looked at the business problem and used IT to tackle it head-on. They reduced average issuance time, which is typically 15 days in life insurance industry to less than30 minutes.
Infosys completely transformed their back-end infrastructure to deal with rapidly changing business paradigms so as to provide a seamless user experience across its 165,000 strong global workforce. The Shamrao Vithal Co-Operative Bank deployed enterprise storage to provide hosting/cloud services to more than 75 client banks.
The Future Group did the largest technology refresh in the retail sector of its data center, by using the latest storage and virtualization technologies to minimize downtime and maximize performance.
The Govt. was not far behind either. The Maharashtra State Excise department built a highly customized supply chain management system to get a 360 degree view of day to day liquor transactions done by licensees, distilleries, manufactories of country liquor and IMFL, wineries, breweries, wholesalers, and even retailers.
The Public Health Department, Govt. of Maharashtra also automated its entire supply chain and reduced the cost of medicines by 20%, which was used to procure more medicines within the same budget.
Smaller organizations are also looking at technology to bring business agility. Flywheel Logistics for instance, overhauled their logistics chain management to help reduce customer attrition by a whopping 25%, and another company called OneAssist Consumer Solutions, which provides credit/debit card fraud protection achieved PCI DSS certification and increased its customer base 3x.
