Tekken 8 will hit consoles and PCs on January 26, 2024. At Gamescom Opening Night Live, co-developer and publisher Bandai Namco released the game's trailer. It was also announced that the Tekken 8 game will arrive for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
It is the 10th entry in the long-running series and includes 32 unique fighters. The trailer says that the game marks the beginning of "a new Tekken saga" and suggests that the long-term antagonist Heihachi Mishima is dead.
Tekken 8 Arcade Quest
Introduced by Tekken creator Katsuhiro Harada and producer Michael Murray, the trailer also introduced the game's single-player mode, similar to the old days of Arcade. In Arcade Quest, players can battle friends and strangers in a local arcade. This mode is "the kind of story that focuses on you as the player," Murray said.
"It includes an arcade scene. As the story progresses, you experience a whole new game that actually has learning aspects built into the AI," he added. Players can create a character, and the trailer suggests that the avatar can apparently enter a virtual arcade and compete in Tekken tournaments.
The latest trailer for the upcoming fighter was presented on stage, which also gave an opportunity to get acquainted with the new single-player mode. Announced for the PlayStation State of Play 2022, Tekken 8 also brings back Jun Kazama, Jin Kazama's mother, who we previously thought was dead but was later revealed to be missing.
