Apple iOS 17.1 is out, know all about Apple's latest updates and features

The most recent iteration of Apple's iPhone operating system, iOS 17.1, has been launched, and the AirDrop update is one of the major highlights, among other features. When you are outside of AirDrop's range, the update adds functionality for massive AirDrop file transfers via the Internet. Additionally, it enhances Apple Music and the Standby function.

It also includes several bug fixes. iOS 17.1 will be supported with iPhone Xs and later devices, including the iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 series. The Cupertino-based tech company has also launched watchOS 10.1 and iPadOS 17.1 to all compatible devices in addition to iOS 17.1.

iOS 17 launched with iPhone 15 series

iOS 17 went to the recently launched iPhone 15 series and selected older iPhone models last month. The latest update includes new features, several improvements, and fixes. When an update is available, a notification icon will appear in the Settings app. iPhone users can check for the update manually by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Several new features in iOS 17.1

iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1 add the ability to continue AirDrop over the Internet if the two connected devices go out of Wi-Fi range after the sharing process begins. The Apple Music app now includes options for favorite songs, albums, and playlists, and users can filter to display their favorites in the library.

The update also brings a new cover art collection that offers templates that change colors to match the music in the playlist.

iOS 17.1 also shows song recommendations at the bottom of each playlist. The latest iPad update supports the new Apple Pencil (USB-C). In addition, the standby feature will be changed to give users more control over turning off the screen on the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The latest iOS update provides fixes for several known issues related to keyboard responsiveness, the display of incoming caller names, and image persistence.

It adds home key support to Matter locks and fixes an issue that could cause the important local privacy setting to reset when the Apple Watch is moved or paired for the first time. It also adds the ability to select a specific album to use on the lock screen with Photo Shuffle. The update optimizes the drop detection feature on all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models.
