AMD has officially launched the all-new Ryzen Threadripper pro 3000WX series. On its official twitter handle, the company tweeted about the processors and the first implementation of the processors will be with Lenovo. The AMD Ryzen Threadripper pro series of processors are going to be for workstations usage. AMD has partnered with Lenovo to bring the new series of threadripper pro series of processors into the world. The new AMD Threadripper Pro CPUs have more in common with the AMD EPYC CPUs than with the threadripper CPUs and sit in the middle of the performance stack. Unlike the AMD EPYC CPUs, the new AMD Threadripper Pro CPUs can be purchased by normal consumers with the Lenovo thinkstation P620.
The new AMD Threadripper Pro series is based on the 7nm architect. There is support for 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes that are way faster than the PCIe 3.0. The AMD Threadripper Pro series will also come with the AMD Secure Processor tool. This will make the new threadripper pro one of the most secure CPUs that normal consumers can buy.
There are four AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro CPUs that are launching today:
- AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX: 64 CPU cores, 128 threads, Max boost to 4.3GHz, Base Clock 2.7GHz
- AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3975WX: 32 CPU cores, 64 threads, Max boost to 4.3GHz, Base Clock 3.5GHz
- AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3955WX: 16 CPU cores, 32 threads, Max boost to 4.4GHz, Base Clock 3.9GHz
- AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3945WX: 12 CPU cores, 24 threads, Max boost to 4.4GHz, Base Clock 4GHz
Who is the AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro for?
These new AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro CPUs are made for handling heavy workloads like 8k videos, content creation, architects, etc. These are CPUs that are AMD claims that are outperforming the intel xenon processors in Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Autodesk Revit RFO Model Creation, and Chaos Group V-Ray. Most people who will go for the AMD Threadripper Pro will be using applications that are CPU intensive.
