In India, Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have been released. The new smartphones feature numerous hardware advancements, but Google never intended to outperform its competitors in terms of hardware, especially with AI on its side. The Pixel 8 event was as much about AI as it was about new smartphones. Some AI features were appropriately paired with the term "magic."
Many Pixel features are frequently hidden in menus, but this time, a few helpful hacks go beyond merely being conversation starters. Here are the top five AI features we're looking forward to testing out in the new Pixel series:
Enhance Zoom
This year's leading smartphones have all featured optical zoom. However, Google has released a new tool that may significantly mitigate it. Zoom Enhance will allow you to apply AI to sharpen an existing zoomed-in image, similar to the quality of a shot with an optical zoom lens. However, how these adjustments are refined remains to be seen.
Pixel Call Screen
This new Call Screen feature is an excellent companion during increased spam calls. It's your first line of defence against spam callers. Before you pick up the phone, you can utilise Call Screen to find out who is calling and why. Google demonstrated how these calls are checked during the demonstration. For example, if a caller states that "you are fortunate and have been chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime lottery," the call screen will detect the fraud and disconnect the phone. However, if a delivery person with your package arrives at your door, the call screen assistant will identify this and present pre-set options to the device's user. Select the "leave the package by the door" option, and the Assistant will notify the delivery person.
The new Call Screen function employs Google Assistant and will continue to consume carrier call minutes. Unfortunately, the feature is not yet available in India; however, Google hopes to increase the list of eligible countries soon.
Audio Magic Eraser and Video Boost
One area where Android devices have struggled to compete with Apple iPhones is video. With the help of Video Boost, Google is adopting a pretty innovative way to compete. When you shoot a video with Video Boost, Pixel creates a single file stored locally on your smartphone and in the cloud. The second file will be sent to Google's servers and processed for improved low-light visibility and overall colour. The process takes a few hours to complete, and Google will tell the user when it is finished.
Audio Magic Eraser can also be extremely useful in noisy surroundings. It lets you minimise or even remove background noise from a video on your Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro. It is also compatible with videos shot on other devices.
Magic Editor and Best Take
Taking group photos is a difficult task. Google Pixel devices will include a Best Take function that will simplify it. When you click many photographs to acquire the most incredible shot, Google will let you select the best face to go with the best picture. For example, if one person's eyes are closed in the finest shot, you may choose another image with that person's eyes open. It will sew the image together perfectly. Magic Editor was shown off at Google I/O and is now available on Google Pixel devices. Using the Magic Editor, you can reposition a subject within a photograph and modify the weather behind you to your desire.
Bard and Google Assistant
On Pixel devices, Google Bard will be integrated with the Google Assistant. Google Assistant will employ Generative AI to give more personalised and intuitive responses. Google demonstrated the feature at the Made by Google event. If you want to upload a picture of your dog on social media, you can ask the Assistant for help with a caption and even appropriate hashtags. The feature is still in testing, but it is expected to debut on the new Pixel devices first.
