In the year 1970, the term GPU was originally stood for graphics processor unit and described a programmable processing unit independently responsible for graphics manipulation and output. Since then, there has been numerous tech developments and innovations. The modern GPU has become one of the most crucial hardware components of PC architecture. While initially, it was streaming binary data from the CPU and rendering images to display. The GPUs have become powerful to engage in the most complex calculations, ML (machine learning) and AI (Artificial Intelligence).
We have listed some major milestones/events in the history of GPU, including release dates for many of the popular and widely-used graphics in the past 35 years.
