The first modern electronic digital computer was called the Atanasoff–Berry Computer, or ABC. It was built by physics Professor John Vincent Atanasoff and his graduate student, Clifford Berry, in 1942. The ABC was at the center of a patent dispute related to the invention of the computer, which was resolved in 1973 when it was shown that ENIAC co-designer John Mauchly had seen the ABC shortly after it became functional.
After years of tech innovations, we have modern machines which are lightweight, portable and powerful. We have listed some major milestones/events in the history of computing. We have not covered all of them, as we wanted to frame the developments in the past 35 years.
