Recover Deleted Media files in Minutes

Stellar Photo Recovery 5 is a multi-media file recovery tool that can recover up to 35 image file formats, 21 audio file formats and 22 video file formats. This includes proprietary file formats for all digital cameras. It is very simple and easy to use as it doesn't restrict recovery in any individual manner but allows you to recover 'as you like it' with options like advance recovery, resume recovery or create back-up. We installed the software on a 32-bit Windows 7 based machine and used an 8 GB USB drive for recovering photos, videos and audio files.

To use it, insert the storage device from which the files were deleted to your PC and open the recovery tool. All drives are instantly detected on the interface. Just select the drive/storage device and go to advance scan at the bottom of the interface. This will open a page with photo, audio and video on the right. Select photo/video/audio and the interface will show the file formats that can be recovered. Unselect all files and then select the specific file format, if you can remember it. Without wasting time on searching irrelevant files the tool will narrow down the search to the specified format. Click on the right arrow to start the scan.

Recover lost files within minutes

For photo recovery we used the 8GB USB drive, deleted all files from it and tried to recover 83 JPEG image files. The scan took 3 minutes and all the files were recovered successfully. We next formatted the drive and tried to recover the JPEG files lost. It took the same time to recover these files. This shows that the software works equally well for both deleted and files lost due to formatting.

With 'Create Image' create a backup file

Other features like Resume Recovery allows you to revisit the scanned and saved files and recover the desired file, saving you the exercise of re-running the scans. Create Image provides sector by sector image of the selected region and creates a backup of the selected region. It can be used later in case the media files get corrupted.

Bottomline: A must have software for multimedia professionals as it supports a large number of file formats, and is quick performer as well.
